This ceremonial earthenware pot in the shape of a goat named "Rhyton" was used as offering vessels in religious ceremonies in ancient Anatolian civilizations.
 The Red River (the Kızılırmak), which is also the longest river in Turkey, has provided many generations of craftsmen with the red clay used to create their iconic art. Pottery was produced in this region as early as 2000 BC, the time of the Hittites.
 Signed by its craftsman Mehmet Körükcü, the object was made in red clay from Cappadocia, then polished with a piece of iron; a polishing technique used by craftsmen of the Urartu civilization (11,000-9,000) to make pottery harder and shinier before the use of glaze was discovered.
